Answers for South African landlords about EasyLandLord: what it does, what it costs from R0 or R49 a month, and the fact that rent is paid into the landlord's own bank account.
What is EasyLandLord?
EasyLandLord is property management software for South African landlords. It stores properties, units, tenants, and leases, and prices are in South African rand. A landlord can start on the Free plan or on Starter from R49 a month.
Who is EasyLandLord for?
It is for private landlords and small property businesses in South Africa. There is no Enterprise plan, no white-label product, no phone support line, and no account manager.
Does EasyLandLord hold tenant rent?
No. Tenants pay rent by EFT into the landlord's own bank account. EasyLandLord never holds tenant money. Paystack is used only for the landlord's subscription to the software.
How does EFT rent reconciliation work?
The landlord stores their own bank details in EasyLandLord. Each lease gets a payment reference the tenant puts on the EFT. The landlord uploads a bank statement as CSV and confirms, ignores, splits, or records each line. Payments can be recorded by hand on every plan, including Free. Starter and above can record a payment automatically from a matched line.
How much does EasyLandLord cost?
Free: R0. Up to 5 active leases. 250 MB storage. Starter: R49 a month plus R29 per active lease. Up to 10 active leases. 1 GB storage. Growth: R199 a month plus R25 per active lease. Up to 40 active leases. 5 GB storage. Pro: R399 a month plus R20 per active lease. Up to 200 active leases. 20 GB storage. A unit with no active lease does not add a per-lease fee. VAT is R0. The company is not VAT-registered and does not add VAT to these prices.
Is there a free trial?
A new landlord account starts a 14-day Starter trial, capped at 5 active leases. No card is required to register. When the trial ends, the account drops to Free and keeps its data. If it is over Free's limits (more than 5 active leases, or more than 250 MB stored), it stays viewable but locked until the landlord upgrades or gets under those limits.
Can I create a South African lease agreement?
Yes. Every plan includes a South African lease PDF. Starter and above add e-signatures, lease renewals, rent escalation, and pro-rata rent.
Does EasyLandLord do tenant screening?
Growth and Pro include a screening record on the tenant. The landlord uploads the report, the result, notes, and an optional PDF. EasyLandLord does not order a credit check or a background check from a bureau.
What can a tenant do in the portal?
On Starter and above, a landlord can invite a tenant. The tenant can see the lease, statements, and maintenance requests, and the payment details for the landlord's own bank account. Rent is still paid to the landlord, not to EasyLandLord. Tenant reputation tools in the portal are on Growth and Pro.
How does EasyLandLord handle POPIA?
A landlord who loads a tenant, applicant, or vendor is the responsible party for that person's information. EasyLandLord is the operator for that processing. Export and erasure of personal information are built in. The privacy notice and the PAIA manual describe how to ask.
Can I run more than one company?
Free, Starter, and Growth are one company. Pro (R399 a month plus R20 per active lease) includes multiple companies, an AI assistant in the landlord workspace, portfolio insights, and priority support. Priority support is not a phone line. Email support@easylandlord.co.za.
Are public rental listings included?
Growth (R199 a month plus R25 per active lease) and Pro can mark a property as a public listing. Those listings appear on the EasyLandLord listings page, and a prospective tenant can send an inquiry to the landlord. EasyLandLord does not collect the rent.
